East Hills Zooka Gala Day report

Congratulations to the U10 Cardinals team whom participated in the annual East Hills Gala Day at Milperra (Sunday 24 November 2013).

Four competitive games of Zooka Ball were played against quite strong Sydney based opposition.  We held our own, going down in 3 matches but winning the last game.

All the players put in a fantastic effort with each player walking away with their own memorable moment(s). Importantly we all had  fun, had a go at different fielding positions with some players learning new skills like stealing bases!

Everyone is keen to participate again next year.

Thankyou to all the parents and supporters that came along and special thanks to the coaching and scoring helpers of Craig Davis, Paul Merceica, Will Ockenden and Jason Howarth.

Nathan Howarth was exceptionally solid as our catcher and showed his batting skills with some great outfield hits.

Matthew Bunder ran hard between the bases after some good low hit drives in the infield.

Brodie Potts hit the ball well all day and was kept busy in the outfield doing a great job running the ball down.

Patrick Vaughan took a great catch at second base, good outfield hitting and was unlucky to get caught in his first dig. Strong throwing in the outfield.

Matilda Ockenden was great at pitcher worked well with Hunter at 1st base. Hit consistently all game and got home numerous times.

Hunter Ockenden did well at 1st base made a number of outs. Had a crack at catcher and also did well.

Charlotte Merceica did well, batting was solid often splitting the infield with some effortless hits.

Luis Vaughan took a number of catches, a hard hit at short-stop and a high ball, worked well at 1st base. Hit the ball well.

Lewis Merceica was reliable at 3rd base and performed well, showed he is ready for Zooka ball, started hitting his straps with some good hits.

Jackson Davis, great all round player, played well as catcher, consistently hit well and great arm in the outfield.

Regards, Brian Vaughan (Coach)
